Here is a possible schedule for a 10 day trek across the Alta Via 1 hike in the Dolomites:

Day 1: Lago di Braies to Rifugio Biella (8.5 km, 4 hours) Start your hike at the stunning Lago di Braies, a turquoise lake surrounded by mountains. Follow the trail along the eastern shore of the lake and then ascend through the forest to the Forcella Sora Forno pass. Enjoy the views of the Croda del Becco peak and the Prato Piazza plateau. Descend to Rifugio Biella, a cozy mountain hut with a panoramic terrace.

Day 2: Rifugio Biella to Rifugio Fanes (11 km, 5 hours) Continue your hike through the Prato Piazza plateau, a wide meadow with grazing cows and horses. Cross the road and enter the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow the trail through the forest and past several alpine lakes, such as Lago di Colli Alti and Lago di Limo. Reach Rifugio Fanes, a historic hut with a museum and a restaurant.

Day 3: Rifugio Fanes to Rifugio Lagazuoi (15 km, 6 hours) Leave Rifugio Fanes and climb to the Forcella del Lago pass, where you can admire the emerald Lago di Lagazuoi and the rocky peaks of Tofane. Descend to the lake and then ascend again to the Forcella Travenanzes pass, where you can see the impressive rock formations of Cinque Torri. Follow the trail to Rifugio Lagazuoi, the highest hut on the Alta Via 1, located at 2,752 m. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Dolomites from the terrace or explore the tunnels and galleries of the Lagazuoi open-air museum, which commemorates the battles of World War I.

Day 4: Rifugio Lagazuoi to Rifugio Nuvolau (9 km, 4 hours) Descend from Rifugio Lagazuoi by cable car or by foot, following the Lagazuoi tunnels (bring a headlamp). Reach Passo Falzarego, where you can take a bus or walk to Passo Giau. From there, ascend to Rifugio Averau, a hut with a renowned cuisine and a view of Marmolada, the highest mountain in the Dolomites. Continue to Rifugio Nuvolau, a small hut perched on a rocky ridge at 2,574 m.

Day 5: Rifugio Nuvolau to Rifugio Città di Fiume (14 km, 5 hours) Leave Rifugio Nuvolau and descend to Passo Giau, where you can see the impressive Croda da Lago mountain group. Follow the trail along the eastern side of Croda da Lago and reach Lago Federa, a beautiful lake with a view of Pelmo, one of the most iconic peaks in the Dolomites. Ascend to Forcella Ambrizzola pass and then descend to Rifugio Città di Fiume, a comfortable hut with a sauna and a jacuzzi.

Day 6: Rifugio Città di Fiume to Rifugio Coldai (10 km, 4 hours) Continue your hike through the Val Zoldana valley, passing by several villages and churches. Reach Palafavera, where you can take a cable car or walk to Rifugio Pian de Fontana, a hut surrounded by meadows and forests. From there, climb to Forcella de la Roa pass and then descend to Rifugio Coldai, a hut located at 2,132 m near Lago Coldai.

Day 7: Rifugio Coldai to Rifugio Vazzoler (12 km, 5 hours) Leave Rifugio Coldai and ascend to Forcella Col Rean pass, where you can enjoy the view of Civetta, another majestic peak in the Dolomites. Descend to Alleghe, a town on the shore of Lago di Alleghe. Take a bus or walk to Caprile, where you can take another bus or walk to Listolade. From there, follow the trail through the forest and past several waterfalls to Rifugio Vazzoler, a hut at 1,715 m.

Day 8: Rifugio Vazzoler to Rifugio Carestiato (9 km, 4 hours) Continue your hike through the Val Cordevole valley, passing by several villages and churches. Reach Agordo, where you can take a bus or walk to La Muda. From there, follow the trail through the forest and past several alpine lakes to Rifugio Carestiato, a hut at 1,834 m with a view of Moiazza, a massive rock wall.

Day 9: Rifugio Carestiato to Rifugio Pramperet (14 km, 6 hours) Leave Rifugio Carestiato and climb to Forcella de Zita Sud pass, where you can see the Schiara mountain group. Descend to Rifugio Pian de Fontana, where you can take a detour to Lago del Mis, a lake with a dam and a waterfall. Return to Rifugio Pian de Fontana and then ascend to Forcella Marmol pass, where you can see the Pale di San Martino mountain group. Descend to Rifugio Pramperet, a hut at 1,857 m near Lago Pramperet.

Day 10: Rifugio Pramperet to La Pissa Bus Stop (15 km, 5 hours) Leave Rifugio Pramperet and follow the trail along the Val Pramper valley, passing by several villages and churches. Reach La Pissa Bus Stop, where you can take a bus to Belluno, the end of your Alta Via 1 hike. Congratulations on completing this amazing trek in the Dolomites!
